Pokemon Diamond and Pearl – Hit or Miss?

Submitted on July 14, 2009 No Comment

The big question is – whether Pokemon Games of newest generation live up to the expectation of that standard which people expected?

With so much advancement in technology giving rise to video game consoles of the latest version that are available in market in abundance, Nintendo a renowned name in the field of video games have been able to provide something new and unique in the series of games. Pokemon – a magic word that has become more popular than any other thing that educational system had thought of is way ahead than its predecessors having new content, a different and new console, and a new twist to make more interesting the already enjoyable series. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl has created so much of hype for its US release from the time it was released in Japan. On the very first day of its release hundreds of thousands rushed to the games store to have one for them; many a times forcing their parents to visit game stores for their copy. This was evident from the fact that over million copies was sold in first week only.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

Fans across the nation had a mixed reaction for the question – Is newer the better? With new age technology a monthly feature in the field of video game, the video game companies have become aware that the glitter will not make the newly launched game hot. Game Freak, the newest Pokemon generation developer tried twist to pull the fans to the game stores in a very innovative manner, what they did was they gave about half a million pre order coupons to have the new game and were given chance to judge the newly launched game series for the hype shown on TV.

The best feature of this new generation Pokemon game is – it does not uses wires to connect to one another rather it works on WiFi the wireless capabilities of Nintendo Ds, Diamond and Pearl has opened a whole new concept in the field of online play. The players of this new generation game can trade on global trading market, battle with other player trainers and also chat with them, all this with the help of virtual Pokeman empire through WiFi connection. Even without internet, players can get connected with each other locally through player’s DS, the only thing that you should be aware of is the friend codes of the people that you desire to chat or battle.

The biggest disadvantage of the game is the lack of true replay value of the game; that is after playing the game for once and able to catch all the Pokemons about 500 of them there is nothing left in the game. The only variation that you can have is through the online play thereby increasing survivability of the game. This is possible only through the Ds technology that provides variety of mini games and different contests offered for participation.

In all there are large amount of new things to explore in this Pokeman new series. Though the game appears to be a bit over hyped the fans will have a lot to cheer and very less to be disappointed. If you are still untouched by the Pokemon series here is your chance to become fan of this new series.
